The michiyuki is a type of ageuta known as a “travel song.” Also set in hiranori, it shares ageuta’s structure and melodic trajectory. Unlike the ageuta, its text is not poetic but factual, describing a traveler’s journey or emotions. It is typically performed by the waki early in the first act and often leads into the shite’s entrance music.
